BUFFALO DUTCH WILD WAS BORN FROM A LOVE OF FREEDOM, PAST LIVES, AND POETRY.

Inspired by the scattered stacks of instant photographs I found of my Dutch immigrant grandmother taken in Los Angeles during the 60s and ’70s, I became enamored with the heartfelt honesty that I saw in my family history and the photographs that would act as a gateway to the people I knew I loved, and the people I have never met and yet have learned to love.

Buffalo Dutch Wild is a home for documenting the juxtapositions that we so often find in our life stories. My work (although it hardly feels like such) was and is continually ignited and inspired by the romantic ideas that we cling to; freedom, the wonder of spontaneity, depth of soul, art in all of her forms, nostalgia that connects our past to our present, the beauty that is in the process of becoming and wild places that captivate our wandering imaginations.

It is my belief that there is magic to be found, beauty to be seen, and warmth to be felt in every moment that makes up our extraordinary existence in this miraculous imperfect human experience. And one thing is for sure, I feel immense gratitude to be the poet of those experiences, the onlooker and the observer, whether through pen and paper or photographs, to documenting the people and places you love and want to remember — in all of their wildly complex and beautiful vulnerability forever.
